My Beachbody Coaching Experience
I decided to become a coach in November 2009 after discovering how radically effective P90X was. In all, I lost 40 lbs, dropping from a size 12 to a size 2 (a size I had never been in my life) and dropping from 24% body fat to 15% – in just 7 short months. Honestly though, I really took the leap and signed up to become a Beachbody coach because I had seen the ads for Shakeology and knew it was a product that I had to have. I have always loved nutrition and I had done enough research to know that Shakeology was the most comprehensive nutritional supplement shake out there! However, I wanted to get it as cheaply as possible so I decided to take advantage of the 25% product discount that came with the Coach Account. Honestly, I knew that $4 a shake was a steal but $3 for a shake (with the discount) was phenomenal. So I signed up for the account.
At the time, I had no intentions of building a business or earning commission from “selling” anything to anyone. However, I had been posting my workouts religiously on Facebook and people that I knew from high school and college and work were noticing not only the changes in my body but also the changes in my attitude and my passion for P90X and getting healthy and fit. People were approaching me left and right and wanting to know what I had done. I would tell them P90X and Shakeology and they would go buy it. I cannot tell you how many people bought P90x while I was “coaching” but bought it from the website or calling the 800 # instead of buying it from me – ALL BECAUSE I DID NOT LET PEOPLE KNOW THEY COULD GET IT FROM ME. My coach contacted me not long after I signed up to introduce me to the business. However, I still was not confident that I could do it.
The turning point for me was attending the National Coaches’ Convention in Los Angeles in April 2010 where I got to meet my coach and so many of the other coaches that I had been following and being inspired by on Facebook. I got to meet the CEO Carl Daiekeler and see firsthand his passion for helping people get healthy. I caught the fever and now after having gone through some training at the convention I had the tools to be successful if I did the work. So I made the decision to take the leap into the business, adding 40 personally sponsored coaches in my organization between June 2010 and December 2010. I went “bananas” as Shaun T would say. It was easy, so very easy and it was FUN!! I love helping people and watching people change their lives and become passionate about life again!!!
After a few months, I saw my customer base increasing and my commission checks getting bigger and bigger. I continued to learn from other successful coaches, to attend regional trainings, and reach out to my customers in an effort to help them achieve their goals and I saw my coaches doing the same. When I started coaching my expectations for earning money doing it were small. But it has blown my mind. In 2010 I became one of the most successful coaches in my organization of over 3500 coaches and I made half of my salary for my full time job in just six months time. I also won two rooms on the wonderful Oasis of the Seas cruise ship in March 2011, a trip I actually got paid to go on because of my success with coaching and helping others achieve their goals.
